Get ready to shake things up

LUNAR SHUFFLE is a full moon playlist series. Each playlist is designed to be roughly 50mins, the optimal focus period for human attention spans, and each track is meant to spark something different in the mind and mood. Use this time to reflect, journal, move, and practice looking forward with greater hope and inner power.

It’s the first supermoon of the year and the only thing there is to say is “expect the unexpected.”

Something about the stars and planets this month tells me I’m in the midst of a huge shift, or on the cusp of a completely new vision for myself. The past few weeks have left me feeling grateful for how far I’ve come, but still just a little bit unsatisfied with so many aspects of my life:
my work, my home, even my friendships.

There’s also a nagging negative cycle that keeps itching to bubble up out of the depths again — that I’m not doing what I could be, that I have all the necessary tools and gifts but I’m squandering them. Teaching myself patience and grace for my own shortcomings may be a lifelong task, but I’m glad to have done a lot of healing and mental retraining already. Now, there’s a change coming, or many changes, and I can only trust myself to make the best of them.

For me, this full moon is all about harnessing the momentum I’ve already built for myself. I can take a step back from this feeling that I’m running out of time or always playing catchup. I can also accept that my goals have changed once again and that this latest era is coming to an end. It’s okay to simply outgrow certain aspects of this current life.

Even if I don’t know what the future looks like, it’s important to make room for new things.

So today, I’ll be journaling about being softer on myself and letting myself want without shame. I am grateful for all I have and all I am — and I still want more. That’s not greed, that’s ambition. And ambition doesn’t have to be loud or flashy or ruthless. Ambition can just mean having a larger vision and the confidence to chase after it, even when the path seems uncertain. It’s a great big world out there and there’s peace in knowing that I’m creating my life day by day.
