Blue moon, extra lucky.

LUNAR SHUFFLE is a full moon playlist series. Each playlist is designed to be roughly 50mins, the optimal focus period for human attention spans, and each track is meant to spark something different in the mind and mood. Use this time to reflect, journal, move, and practice looking forward with greater hope and inner power.

This full moon is the second this month, making it a blue moon. It also happens to be a supermoon, meaning it will appear much larger (due to its proximity to Earth) and brighter than usual. This is also the beginning of my favorite season, so I’m particularly excited to stargaze tonight.

If you’re a space girlie like me, following the lunar calendar and checking up on NASA news are par for the course. But lately, I’ve really been leaning in to the spiritual side of things — considering the generations of people relying on the moon and stars to keep time and cycle through life, especially meaningful for womanhood.

I may not be a follower of Western astrology, but the parallels of lunar months and menstrual months don’t escape me. Whatever frequencies we and moon emit are always stretched and compressed with the lunar orbit — it stands to reason our internal realities would move and shift in response to these lunar beats. [Makes sense that the “crazies” who come out on full moons are called “lunatics”.]

On this full moon, like I do with all the others, I’m honoring my ancestors and my womanhood by taking the time to reflect on the past few weeks and set some goals for myself. Autumn is finally here and I couldn’t be more ready for sweater weather and all the coziness the season brings. I’ll write for the thoughtful tracks, hum with the calming tracks, dance and let loose on the upbeat tracks, and remind myself of my strength and joy.

Some things I plan to journal about: Career aspirations, feeling good in my body, and making it a priority to host my friends more often.

This blue moon is extra-special and I can feel it. Listen to the full playlist:
